Beyond beautiful. There is no other craftmanship like this in the Backgammon world. I bought my first Crisloid in 2014 and just purchased this one as a birthday gift for my girlfriend. The quality is second to none, I just can’t stop admiring it. It is torture waiting to play since it arrived so quickly and I have to wait to gift it. Trust me, a Crisloid is absolutely worth the investment. They are a work of art that brings people & families together and can be handed down. I always get comments when playing in public on mine. Also had a great correspondence with Amy, she and the entire crew are amazing …now I want another board for myself…how many is too many?

You could not ask for a better set at this price. I have a $445 Wycliffe Brothers set, and it’s fantastic. However, in terms of overall quality, I have to give the edge to the Crisloid; especially considering it’s about $100 less. I think my favorite part about this set is the dice cups. The cups are thick, stocky and satisfying. My biggest issue now is that my next set is going to have to be at least $1000 if I want anything “nicer” 🤣

I received the Anchor Blue Tournament Attaché for Christmas ‘23. I have played a couple dozen games with opponents and probably a couple hundred solitaire in these three months. This is such a beautiful board to play on. I anticipated that, but I am amazed at the action of the playing surface! Starting with the feel and tumble from the superb leather dice cups, when the rounded-corner, pearlized dice hit the cork the sound is “deep” and satisfying. Each die bounces, skitters and sometimes spin on their corners for some seconds, building tension, until they settle and reveal the numbers. The checkers are massive and beautiful yet slip effortlessly across the smooth surface from point to point. I tell you, I love that playing surface!!
Overall, the materials and construction are superb. The textile outer covering, chrome latches and handle are top quality, look great, and are obviously durable for many years of use. And I truly appreciate that this is an American made product. Thank you Crisloid!
The only critique I have that doesn’t change my rating and shouldn’t affect your purchase is the doubling cube. The one that arrived was a matte finish with a light blue pastel’ish color with a “digital” font. It did not match the quality of the set so I replaced it with a pearlized, round-cornered cube that fits perfectly with the dice.
Crisloid, if you see this, you may consider adding that style of cube to the set routinely.
The final takeaway: the “action” of the playing surface is something you cannot see in the pictures. This is not a dead board. The first dice roll will put a big smile on your face. Enjoy!
