Why Classic Gamers Love our Pro Series Felt Backgammon Fields

Crisloid recently launched our Pro Series backgammon sets featuring felt playing fields, and the response has been fantastic. We’ve exclusively used cork playing fields on our board fields for decades, but demand from classic gamers for felt fields finally convinced us to take the leap.

Why did we wait so long? Well, the Crisloid crew dove into serious research and development, covering all the bases from felt specifications to playability. After sourcing the raw materials, we put together prototypes for testing, and the Pro Series was born. These new boards meet our high standards, and the casino-grade felt is a fantastic alternative to cork.

Here’s why felt works so well for backgammon fields:

Great glide: The Pro Series felt fields look great and perform just as well as cork. Checkers easily glide across the slightly textured surface, and the overall gameplay is phenomenal.

Quiet gameplay: Unlike louder backgammon surfaces such as wood or cork, felt fields absorb the “clacking” of dice and checkers. It’s perfect for home games where you need to keep things a little quieter.

Outstanding dice action: Crisloid’s felt fields look amazing, and they also generate a controlled, “true” roll that slick, low-quality boards can’t match. You’ll get that awesome “thump” when rolling the dice without any crazy bounces.

Soft feel:  We use world-class gaming felts because they provide a perfect balance between playability and a feel that makes gameplay enjoyable. Classic gamers will appreciate the subtle differences between our felt and cork backgammon fields — both materials have their own personality.

Low-maintenance and durable: The exterior on our Pro Series line has a high-end, cloth-like appearance and is vinyl-coated for durability and easy cleaning. We build all our backgammon boards to last, and the Pro Series lives up to our standards.

Vibrant colors:  Felt, especially the high-grade version used on Crisloid’s backgammon fields, is the perfect medium for high color contrast. This makes the points look extra crisp and enhances the board’s visual appeal. Our new felt boards are available in three colorways with a fresh, two-color split-point design that makes the fields POP!
